Giostra della Quintana starts with a historical parade with hundreds of persons wearing historical clothes. After the parade the horsemen come with their animals. Then the race starts. Horsemen have to hit with their lances a wooden turning statue representing the Saracino (turkish ancient warrior). The Saracino has open harms. The horsemen hit strongly one of his hand and have to avoid the Saracino hit back with its other hand. After the race again the parade. This event ends with a big fest on the Ascoli streets.
