Teatro alla Scala

Il Teatro alla Scala replaced the Teatro ducale, the previous Milan's Opera house detroyed by fire on february 1776. Costs for its building were payed by the nobles owners of the boxes in the Teatro Ducale. They payed to purchase the land were the church of Santa Maria alla Scala was erected. The duty to make building plan was given to Giuseppe Piermarini and the Teatro alla Scala was so opened on the 3th of August of 1778 with the performance of the Antonio Salier's opera "Europa Riconosciuta". Today La Scala is generally awarded as the most important and famous opera house in the world. Watcning an opera or a concert there means live something exclusive.
