The villages of Lega Lombarda won on Frederick RedBeard in Legnano on 1176. In honour of this victory, Legnano institutionalized a horse race. Today the Palio is not only a horse race. The historical parade before the race is made of thousands of fellows on historical clothes. The "Carroccio" is the star of this show. The Carroccio is a wood wagon with the symbol of lombard villages and moved by bulls.
