This church has been erected in 1506 by the padri Olivetani in the elegant gotic-catalan style. The structure was anyway abandoned few years later, in 1573 becouse of the building of the near fortress of Spasimo. In this church was a Raffaello' s masterpiece painted during his living in the city and inspired to the Madonna of the Spasimo. After its abandon, the church was bought by the Senate and used as a warehouse then has a hospital. Because of a fire, the building lost its wooden celing and today is one of the most interesting location of Palermo. A gothic church ith no ceiling is an amazing set for concerts and theatre performances.
