First hotel in Italy to offer butler service, luxury defined, the Hotel St. Regis Grand was originally opened in 1894 by Cesar Ritz as the first luxury hotel and it reopened its doors in December 1999 after a 35 million dollars complete restoration and renovation program.

The hotel has a great history and an impressive clientele list. The St. Regis Grand is the focal point for the government and diplomatic area of Rome, playing host to many national and international dignitaries and heads of state as well as business executives and widely known celebrities.

Guestrooms are designed with a “Continental” approach using many design references to Rome and the St. Regis Grand history. Furniture that is used is a combination of styles including Empire, Regency, and Louis XV, in reference to Cesar Ritz’s founding. Every guestroom has its own unique identity: the hand painted fresco installed above the headboard. Each fresco depicts a significant ruin, monument or area of Rome creating a hotel, which is not only in Rome, but belongs to Rome.
All the guestrooms have Murano glass chandeliers – a recall of the building’s turn of the century roots.

Further Informations

The St. Regis Grand Rome is the first hotel in Italy offering the exclusive 24 hours butler service completely dedicated to satisfying the needs of the hotel’s more exacting clientele.
A special welcome and attention, provided by the distinguished and timeless “savoir faire” of a butler, is the characteristic of a certain number of guestrooms and suites. Two floors dedicated to extraordinary privileges and comfort: from valet service to the daily inspection of accommodations, to luxurious bath amenities by Hermés and Acqua di Parma.
All conceived to respond to the guest’s every requirement, every whim.

The restaurant of the St. Regis Grand Rome received some important awards since its opening at the end of 2000. Following the restyling works, Vivendo won the Gold Key Award for the design: contemporary in the spirit, but with an eye on the past to incorporate the traditional detail of the rooms and furnishing inspired by the 30’s and the 40’s.
It also obtained the top award by the guide Zagat “Europe’s Top Restaurants” for the quality of food and the service.

Seventy places, a “Champagnerie” intimate for 14 guests, lighting designed to help the diners relax, but at the same time to emphasise the works of culinary art, the rich cuisine of the Chef offers products typical of the area combined with intense fragrances and aromas.

Characteristic components of the Mediterranean tradition blend harmoniously; modes of cooking and condiments wisely used combine in a marriage that can satisfy the most modern and discriminating palate.

The wine list is personally selected by the Restaurant Manager, Federico Galligani - a keen sommelier – and offers more than 560 labels, kept save in the “di…Vino” wine cellar.

The private wine cellar of the St. Regis Grand is the perfect place for a private dining up to 14 people and for private wine tasting and cocktails up to 30 guests.

“di…Vino” has been created from a cave under the restaurant “Vivendo” with beautiful stones found during the restoration works, being part of the Emperor Diocletian’s Roman Baths located just in front of the hotel. Exclusive “di…Vino”, all carefully hand painted, is the perfect setting for a new wine-gastronomic experience.

“di…Vino” wine cellar is open on request and in occasion of wine and gastronomic tasting periodically organized with the participation of producers and wine experts.

Close to the lobby area, it is a comfortable place for light snacks, the celebrated English afternoon tea, the Sunday brunch or a coloured cocktail.

Le Grand Bar opens in the morning for a cappuccino or for a tempting breakfast overlooking the Grand Hall. Considered as one of the best bars in the world, it is the ideal spot to enjoy an excellent but informal meal during the day. The afternoon tea starting at 5.00 pm, features a delicious assortment of tea with piano tinkling in the background, a perfect setting for a pause after a busy day.
