On the south side of Palazzo Vecchio, facing the Arno river is the Galleria degli Uffizi, one of the most important and famous art museum of Italy. This big palace was drawn and built by Vasari on the second half of XVI century on Cosimo I de' Medici request. It was supposed to host the administrative bodies of Firenze. This structure is today overcrowded of masterpieces made by the most important painters and sculptors. Among these are: the Tondo Doni by Michelangelo, the Birth of Venere by Botticelli, the Madonna del cardellino by Raffaello.
