Genova is the capital of Liguria Region and was one of the most important Marine Republic of Italy some centuries ago. The historical centre of Genova is full of many historical proof of the glorious past. There are many streets famous for the historical palazzos belonged to important families. In the ancient via Aurea and Strada Balbi are the dimore dei Magnifici (‘Magnificent's dwellings'), in San Matteo in the medieval headquarter of Doria's. The residence of the Prince and Admiral Andrea Doria worth a visit as well.
White and black or baroque churches appear all of a sudden walking through the carruggi (the ancient Genova's narrow streets).  Close to the historical centre is the San Lorenzo's Cathedral.
The ancient harbour is a huge area used as interesting and charming location for fairs, exhibitions and entertainment events. In Genova is also the biggest aquarius in Europe really worth a visit.
In the Porta Soprana area is also the interesting house of Cristoforo Colombo who has been the most famous Genova's citizen through centuries.
